Avani Avittam for Rig & Yajur Vedees

Upakarma means beginning or Arambham and it  is also known as Avani Avittam. It refers to the ritualistic beginning of learning Veda. Apart from learning Vedas on Upakarma day, Brahmins ritually change their Upanayana thread along with Shrauta rituals.

This festival of Upakarmam reminds the wearer of the sacred thread of its glorious spiritual significance.

Rig Upakarma and Yajurveda Upakarma:

Batch 1 – 6:00 am
Batch 2 – 7:00 am
Batch 3 – 8:00 am
Batch 4 – 9:00 am

Devotees can participate in Upakarma in any one of the four batches according to their convenience.

Attention:

1.  Male Devotees must wear a Veshti with Thundu (Dhoti with towel) and also requested to bring their own Panchapatra Thattam

2. Temple will provide a Tharpai, Pavithram and Poonool (sacred thread) for devotees.
